How Much Does It Cost for a Septic Design?
My septic site evaluation has finally been approved.
Now I’m on to the step of having the system designed and then I can finally have it installed.
Generally, how much does it cost to have a sand mound system designed?
If anyone has had one designed recently, what did you pay?

The qualifications and requirements for a septic system designer can vary from state to state. I would suggest you look in the yellow pages for a few septic system suppliers and ask them for the names of some qualified designers in your area. They should be able to quote you a firm price for a septic system design or give you the name of someone who is experienced in doing sand mound type systems.

A cluster system, where each home has their own septic tank but empty into a community drainfield will generally cost $5,000 to $8,000 for the initial install.
Engineered systems, like mounds, sand/peat filters, aerobic systems and constructed wetlands will run $6,000 to $10,000. Occasionally they can run in the $15,000 dollar range or more. " …

In most areas in the US, conventional septic systems cost from $2500 to $7500 to install. While certain site conditions or alternative drainfield designs can make installation more expensive, this is a general range for standard septic tank and soil absorption systems. Alternative septic systems requiring pumps or specially constructed drainfields can be considerably more expensive.
As a general rule of thumb, septic systems are most cost-effective in communities where houses are spaced widely apart, and where connection to a sewer system is not an option." …
