How Much Does It Cost to Replace a Corroded Septic Pipe?
We just bought a new home and the cast iron pipe that moves the septic from the kitchen sink is corroded and needs to be replaced with a pvc pipe. How much does this cost? Is it something we could attempt ourselves?

Jamie,
If you had ANY experience with plumbing, at all, I’d say you might be able to accomplish this if you’re willing to work hard and get really, really filthy dirty, possibly with some stuff you don’t want to know about. However, the mere fact that you have to ask if this is something you could attempt makes me think you’d be much better served by hiring a professional. If you’re talking about replacing a pipe that’s underground you’ll most likely want an excavation contractor, as they’re the people that install septic tanks and the lines that run to them from the basement wall. If the pipe in question is inside the basement then you need a plumber.
its not hard to do.if you have a problem.then get help.but im sure you can do it.home depot will help explain.good luck.
This really depends on the depth, and how far the line runs.
If the pipe is only a few feet below ground, you could do it yourselves.
If you live in a climate with harsh winters, the pipe is probably at least five feet down, and digging that much would not be practical.
